7K a year 1 hour ago 1 hour ago 1 hour ago Purpose The Post-Secondary Advocate monitors and addresses the academics, behavior, and overall progress of students for the purpose of post secondary and career readiness through the implementation of various preventative measures and strategic interventions.
The student advocate works closely with appropriate staff to ensure the mission of the foundation is intact and all policies and procedures of the foundation are followed.
The student advocate will report to and responsible to work with the post-secondary program coordinator in an effort to provide guidance in the areas of program effectiveness, growth, and sustainability, student performance, and public relations.
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree or equivalent professional experience.
Experience with working with adolescents.
Responsibilities Establish a rapport with all students in programs sponsored by The Immokalee Foundation.
Assist students in identifying their educational, post-secondary and career goals; help them to formulate written plans for future advancement.
Collaborate on the goals and objectives for The Immokalee Foundation and Take Stock in Children programs.
Work with post-secondary services manager and VP of programs to maximize school system support.
Work with post-secondary services manager and VP of programs to identify and establish relationships with affiliated organizations, including Take Stock in Children.
Assist with data collection:
monitor & track student's grades, involvement, GPA, professional development, experiences/workshops, to ensure students are meeting benchmarks.
Identify potential problems and intervene as necessary to ensure student success.
This may include, but is not limited to:
leveraging the services of affiliated organizations, leveraging school system resources, and/or direct interaction with students.
Follow pertinent Take Stock in Children and The Immokalee Foundation guidelines for student success.
Assist in scholarship tracking and The Immokalee Foundation student selection process, including creating applications, meeting with the committee, inputting scores, etc.
Provide individual and group advocacy.
Contribute knowledge-sharing efforts through participation in seminars, coalition meetings, conference calls, surveys, etc.
Arrange for required paperwork to be completed and returned within timelines to post-secondary services manager, program data specialist, and VP of programs.
Work with Florida Prepaid Foundation to ensure that all scholarships are active and accounted for and the appropriate reports are completed and submitted.
Collect data that will give statistics on programs that reflect program effectiveness.
Maintains effective communication and provide high quality customer service to students, parents, mentors, and staff and community members.
Assist in planning, implementing and chaperoning special trips and events.
Facilitate one-on-one meetings with probation students to create a college success plan.
Schedule intervention meetings with students who fall below the program requirements to create success plans.
Facilitate summer boot camp and winter workshops with post-secondary services manager so students can learn the importance of mental health, time management, and college transitions.
Ensure that proper notification letters are sent to students (when appropriate) for warning, probation, pre-termination and termination according to the standards set by the program are followed.
Schedule College visits for informational or follow-up purposes with our students and manager.
Participate in staff development and in-service training programs.
Assist other programs as requested or needed.
Other duties as assigned by the VP of Programs and/or President and CEO.

Knowledge Strong understanding and sensitivity to the perspectives of low-income children and their families.
Must be PC proficient with experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.

WORKING CONDITIONS Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
Some evenings, weekends, and overnight trips will be required.
May be required to lift boxes up to 45 lbs.
